Delisle has one co-educational residential
group home. One is a long-term treatment
residence with an average stay of 1 year.
The treatment focus of the long-term
residential is two-fold. The first component
is the Life Skills program which assists the
resident to prepare for independence. This
includes developing various Life Skills such
as cooking, hygiene and budgeting. Group
meetings are held to encourage socialization
and help residents resolve group issues in
the residence. The referrals are from
Central Access to Residential Services
(CARS). The goals of the program are:
-
to provide a safe voluntary therapeutic
environment in which to resolve
individual issues, e.g., sexual abuse,
substance abuse, mental health concerns,
family issues
-
to provide an individual treatment plan
that is least intrusive
-
to provide life skills training to
prepare live self-sufficiently within
the community
-
to provide support to maintain and
enhance cultural and sexual diversity
-
to provide individual counseling and,
when needed, crisis management
-
to work interdependently with other
support systems to provide maximum
individual/family support
-
to provide support for transition to
independence and aftercare.
