The Salvation Army Bethany Hope Centre for Young Parents continues nearly a century’s tradition of providing service to pregnant and parenting youth and their children. Our multi-service Centre offers daily service within the Ottawa region to young parents 25 and under and their children 6 and under.
The free services available, based on need, focus on health and nutrition, early childhood development, education, counselling and basic financial security needs. The goal of the Centre has always been to assist those who need that extra little bit of support in meeting their own and their child’s needs. Young parents often deal with isolation, lack of family support, financial strain, inadequate housing and incomplete education. Our counsellors meet with all new parents and assess each family's need in order to make referrals to the appropriate programs. Our Programs
The services we provide cover a wide range of day and evening programming, some on a drop-in basis and some on a pre-registered basis. Young parents are encouraged to meet regularly with a Counsellor to discuss their personal and parenting goals. Children are introduced to the children’s programming in the playroom. In order to support parenting and encourage new skills, further meetings are held with the Early Childhood Educator. In order to accomplish our goals, Bethany Hope Center seeks out various community services as well as Brighter Futures for Children of Young Single Parents, to deliver programs. These programs are specific to the needs of the pregnant and parenting youth accessing our programs.
